The Tamil Foundation has been organising Tamil Education Conferences to strengthen and develop Tamil education in Malaysia. Following the success of the first two conferences in 2016 and 2018, the Third Tamil Education Development Conference was held on 21 December 2024 at Asia Pacific University, with the theme “Needs and Solutions.” The conference brought together over 250 delegates to discuss current challenges, opportunities, and strategies for enhancing Tamil education nationwide.
Objectives:
- Identify the major challenges and opportunities in Tamil education in Malaysia
- Explore new approaches for improving the quality of Tamil education
- Develop strategies to increase student enrolment and retention in Tamil schools
- Propose solutions for teaching the SPM Tamil Language and Literature subjects, as well as STPM Tamil
- Promote the study of Tamil literature among secondary school students
